Programming
The programmers got to work this sprint creating ragdolls and collisions within the game, as well as AI for the robot dog that chases Sheldon. NPCs now can walk around on the sidewalks in the town, and Sheldon is able to knock them over by running into them, hitting them with the Van, or throwing packages at them. Sheldon is also able to knock things over in the van such as trash cans and street signs. The robot dog was also given a small animation through programming that makes it bob up and down and tilt its head in order to make it feel more alive. One of the programmers also created a smoke particle effect for the van to make it seem more like a janky vehicle. There is now also an options menu with sliders to adjust mouse sensitivity and audio.
Animations / Models
Almost all of the NPCs now have a walking animation to bring life into the town. Each one has a different walk and it feels like they each have their own personalities. The modelers got to work creating the buildings and signs for the downtown area. They created 4 different buildings each with 3 different textures. This way the downtown area has variations and won’t feel like a copy and paste of the same things. On top of this, models were also made to fill in the town with more props. This includes a traffic cone, swing set, soccer ball, and slide. The swing set, slide, and soccer ball are meant to create small parks throughout the game to break apart all the houses, and the traffic cones are meant to be placed around the map to create interesting collision interactions.
Level Design
The level designers made even more progress on creating neighborhoods for Sheldon to run around in, featuring all of the props created such as trees, houses, modular roads, sidewalks, cars, signs, street lights, traffic lights, and more.
Sound Design
The sound designer got more work done on creating sound effects for the game, one of our favorites being Sheldon’s voice lines. The goal was to mainly have Sheldon make nerdy / whining sounds rather than whole voice lines.
Statistics
Overall for this sprint, 189 points were assigned and 150 were completed by the end of the two week period. This leaves our average velocity at 142 points per sprint. This is the final stretch so the project is beginning to wrap up. Up next is the last sprint before prepping to upload a final build! Thanks for viewing our page, check back soon for updates!
