Designer Blog - Sprint 4


Hey Everyone! Tyla here!

This sprint, we made some great progress, and we made some moves design-wise to account for the time we have left to bring this game to life. 


First we have the progress. We were able to get the "build mode" mechanics up and running so that you as players are now able to customize your shop to fit your desired aesthetics. We also moved our modelers to focusing on more decorations so that there is more options for all of you to be able to craft.             

We also have made it to where the seedlings drop more resources so that players do not have to spend as much time scavenging out in the wild. We hope that this will bring a more enjoyable experience to you all. 


Now, for the playtests. Sadly, we noticed most of the players did not craft an item, which was our main focus for this build, but that is okay! Because, we noticed this we will now implement an invite to the game upon startup that will explain to you all the steps of the game!


We also noticed that the timer to craft an item in an attempt to prolong gameplay was not a rewarding feeling based on our own playtests. So, by the next playtest this mechanic will be removed. We will still have a "timer" for the plant growth, but now crafting itself will be instantaneous. 

The next thing we will change is we will no longer have seedlings spawn upon the collection of a plant. We found that this mechanic did not flow with the overall aesthetics of the game to be a calm construction based game. 

There are a couple of things that will be changed throughout the finalization of the game that we will reveal in the next developer blogs. We are excited to implement some new and exciting mechanics for the game. Our focus is now able to be shifted to implementing more decor, so bear with us!
