Producer Log: Sprint 5 Review


Hey Everyone! I'm Billy Thao, the Producer for our game Elementalist and I'm excited to be back to share our progress and  work our team has completed in sprint 5 of our production cycle.

For sprint 5, our priorities were focused on making sure Levels were being blocked out and making sure it's balance with all characters in our game in mind. We also focused on our playtest feedback and making sure we were fixing things and having minor changes for our Ancient Forest world.

For this sprint, It was interesting to see how things played out when working from home. It's obviously more difficult to have everyone on the same page as communication wasn't as open as it used to be but overall, We got some work done this sprint. 

2D Artists

For this sprint, Our 2D Artists were making extended backgrounds for our different levels and some of our Final Key art for our game.

As for our 3D Modelers, We had them finishing up models for our C-tier enemies and some more props for our levels!

Programmers

For this sprint, Our programmers focused on finishing up minor scripts for our main menu systems, characters, and implementation of animations. We also had pause menus implemented and audio finally being implemented into the game.

As for our level designers, We had them all working on their base blockouts for their levels and finishing up some annotated maps.

Animators
As for our Animators, They focused on completing rigs for the the final enemies models and more animations for our enemies and characters. 2D animations were also worked on for different effects for certain movements and abilities.

Overall, Sprint 5 was slower than I liked and expected. There are many challenges with working at home and keeping the team motivated to do work is difficult when you can't meet them in person but it's still my responsibility to get them working consistently.  For the next sprint I'm going to be a bit more demanding and having higher expectations for the team. I'm still proud of our team and what we've have and what we're currently doing.
